Passion. Time. Talent. Our Directors support CSS by providing leadership, connecting with services for those in need, sharing expertise, fundraising, and being ambassadors and advocates. Learn about our current board members here.

Established in 2013, Eugene-based Community Supported Shelters is a nonprofit organization that addresses homelessness by creating stable and safe communities that enable people to get off the street and begin the transition to a better life. In more than a decade of service, we have sheltered about 1,000 individuals, with approximately 60% moving on to housing and more productive lives.

We have developed durable, low-cost
Conestoga Huts that give community members safety and privacy, which are located in
Safe Spot Communities across Eugene. Each site is an
intentional community where people build a personal support network, practice respect for others, and gain responsibility by adhering to clear community rules. CSS provides support and navigation services that empower unhoused individuals to stabilize and rebuild their lives.
Who We Are Seeking
Our Board consists of volunteers with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We are looking to add members who share our commitment to addressing homelessness. We are especially interested in:
- Individuals with expertise in areas such as law, public relations, fundraising, and real estate
- People with lived experience with homelessness, recovery, and incarceration
- Community members who can expand and enhance our network in Lane County
Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings and at least two fundraising events annually and provide a financial contribution commensurate with their means. We are a working Board, and members can expect to serve on standing and ad hoc committees. Terms are for three years.

Support Us
Your support provides shelter and hope for a better tomorrow. No amount is too small to give. $20 can make a real difference in the lives of unhoused individuals—it can fund an Outreach Kit, which provides someone in need with water, snacks, and hygiene supplies.
