Jennifer Yeh: Making a Difference

When Jennifer Yeh was looking for a new nonprofit position a couple of years ago, her most important criterion was working for an organization making a difference locally. “I don’t know what could fit that more than CSS,” she says. “It’s working on issues that are the top priority for most people in this community, whether it’s food insecurity or homelessness or housing or mental illness; there are so many things that CSS is involved with. So, it very quickly rose to the top.” Jennifer started as Volunteer & Development Coordinator in April 2024. A little more than a year ago, long-time CSS staff member and Development Manager Pujita Mayeda announced plans to retire sometime in 2026, and she and Jennifer began planning the transition for Jennifer to take over that position. When Pujita officially retired at the end of June, Jennifer became the new Development Manager.

In that role, Jennifer leads a team of four responsible for fundraising, grant writing, volunteer coordination, and community outreach and engagement. “This job allows me to make it possible for the people in CSS to do all the amazing things they do. I don’t have the skill set that people working directly with our clients have, but through my skills with fundraising and grantwriting, I’m able to let everyone else’s skills shine.”

She greatly values the time she has had with Pujita. “I’ve been able to spend all this time learning from her institutional knowledge.” Pujita is delighted to leave the leadership of CSS Development efforts in Jennifer’s hands: “I’m so happy to have Jennifer as my successor. Knowing of her work and dedication on the City Council, I was thrilled when she applied to join the CSS Development Team. From the beginning, Jennifer was someone I could trust to always show up 100 percent and stay until the work was complete. Wow, she was a dream come true.”

Jennifer has served on the Eugene City Council since 2017 and, before coming to CSS, has a long history of working with community-oriented organizations in both professional and volunteer roles.
