In the spring of 2026, four Nightingale Community members graduated from Laurel Hill’s Rentwell tenant education program. The group from our community drove CSS’s Nightingale Commuter car to attend the Rentwell course over a series of Friday afternoons. They connected on goals related to housing and completed the course together. CB said, “All of my Nightingale neighbors and I made it through the course, while a host of others shied and somehow fell short. We reveled in our letters of recommendation, which each confirmed our individuality and real importance in the lives of others. To be ready is one thing, confident another. We are each good, that’s for certain.” Upon graduation from the course, each member had a certificate, completed course materials, and a rental reference from Community Supported Shelters. In the reference letters, Blake highlighted their individual contributions to the community and verified their readiness as a renter.
This class of graduates was focused on developing skills related to tenancy and removing barriers to housing. Nightingale is a perfect stepping stone for people who are working towards housing and need a stable place to live, save money, and act on goals related to housing.
To help sustain our housing supports, including navigation staff, ID and housing application help, and rental assistance, please consider donating to the Nightingale Fund. This fund keeps these life‑changing services available to Nightingale community members.
